Sigma News - August 2024

What a RUSH!

Brothers,

2024 was quite a recruitment year for our chapter!

Signing Day this summer was held at our chapter home in Stillwater on June 29th. We were excited to see most of the Brotherhood that traveled to Stillwater with around half of the active chapter in attendance, if not more. Future candidates from Oklahoma City, Edmond, Tulsa, Texas, California, North Carolina, and Kansas all made the trip to officially celebrate their signing to Sigma Nu. Congrats to the newly signed Potential New Members of PC '24!

THANK YOU Rush Teams and Rush Advisors/Alumni

Brothers Lukas Garzke (EE 2778) and Maddox Trent (EE 2786) served as our Tulsa and Oklahoma City Rush Chairmen for the Summer of 2024, and the active chapter thanks them for their hard work to help build the future of the new house in PC '24. They were tasked with selecting Rush teams and planning events all summer. Rush would not have been possible without their time and effort this summer. Thank you also to the Rush team members in Oklahoma City and Tulsa for their help in prospecting and making decisions all summer.

Rush would also never be possible without the impact and time given by our alumni, including our Rush Advisors that have made an impact on the Rush Teams this summer. The active chapter extends gratitude towards Brothers Kelly Miller (EE 1592), Steve Brown (EE 1026), Trey Finn (EE 2638) and Eric Flores (EE 2672) for their guidance in helping the Rush Chairmen and teams to make the best decisions and plan the best events all summer. Alumni involvement makes Sigma Nu Rush stand out, and hearing words from those who have gone through their collegiate years with Sigma Nu only shows the candidates more about why they should be a Sigma Nu. Thank you to the alumni for a great summer and for any other alumni who helped host Rush events in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Dallas, and anywhere else.

Congratulations!

We are thrilled to announce that former Commander and graduating senior, G. Dare Lovett IV (EE 2726, A 702), has been selected as a 2024 Alpha Chapter Award recipient

In 1962, Brother Ora Baldinger, an Alpha Chapter initiate at VMI, proposed the Alpha Affiliate Award, inspired by a 1909 conversation with Founder Hopkins who urged, “Don’t ever let Alpha Chapter die.” Although VMI later abolished fraternities, Baldinger created the award to honor Hopkins’ wish.

The Alpha Affiliate Award program was established to honor the Fraternity’s most outstanding graduating seniors by assigning them an Alpha Chapter initiate number in recognition of their achievements. Each academic year, only ten exceptional seniors from across the nation are selected to receive this prestigious honor..

Please join us in congratulating Commander Lovett on this remarkable achievement

As Cowboy football is just around the corner, we would like to ask any alumni or pledge class to be generous in donating to host/sponsor the Sigma Nu tailgate! This has been a great tradition during football season and we would love to keep it going. The sponsorships usually consist of pledge classes or individuals coming together and chipping in around $25 per person. If you are interested in sponsoring a tailgate please reach out to me or Stan Bugh EE1458.
